1973–1987 Chevy C10 Aluminum Fuel Tank for Aeromotive In-Tank Pumps (Choose Your Pump)
A Better Tank for Your Square Body C10
An original 1973–87 C10 tank is more than 35 years old and has no place for an Aeromotive in-tank pump. This aluminum tank mounts to the bottom of the frame rails with no cutting of the frame or bed crossmembers.
Product #14042-NP has the Aeromotive 10-bolt pattern, a flat bottom and baffling for Aeromotive Phantom, Brushless or Eliminator pumps that use that pattern. Pick your fill, then have us install one of the Aeromotive pumps below or leave the pattern open for your own.

How It Fits Your Square Body
Measure your truck before ordering. The tank mounts to the bottom of the frame rails on its 3" tabs. We don't offer a 73–87 mounting kit, so supply your own hardware or fabricate your own mounting.
The standard cap sits just below the bed floor, so you'll need an access door, or add the flush floor fill kit. The 7.75" driver-side offset lands on the largest board of a wood floor.
Choose Your Fill and Fuel System: Tank Options
An Aeromotive pump assembly is required to use this tank. It will not work with a Trifecta, Dual 450 or the Boyd #41001, and we don't build pickup tube plates for it.

What You'll Still Need
- Fuel pressure regulator
- Feed and return lines, fittings, pump wiring and relay
- Vent hose to a vapor canister or filter
- Level sensor or block-off, unless selected
- Mounting hardware
- Fill hose, filler housing and fill neck vent hose (side fill)
- Thread sealant rated for fuel
Installing It Right
- Plumb the 1/2" NPT tank vent with hose to a vapor canister or filter, with or without the rollover vent. Never block off a tank vent port.
- Side fill: connect the 5/8" fill neck vent barb to the barb on the back of your fill neck housing.
- Install a sensor or the block-off kit before adding fuel.
- Aluminum threads cross-thread and gall easily. Start every plug and fitting by hand and never install them dry. Thread damage from dry-fitted plugs or hardware isn't covered under warranty.
Keep the rear crossmember. On 1955-1987 Chevrolet C10 tanks, removing the rear crossmember for a Panhard bar suspension can crack the tank at the mounts, and that damage is not covered by our two-year limited structural warranty. If your suspension kit calls for removing it, ensure to replace it. Read the full note
Frequently Asked Questions
Which pump should I choose?
Boyd Welding builds the tank only and doesn't advise on pump choice. Ask your mechanic, tuner or Aeromotive's tech department, and see our Pumps section.
How is this different from the Stealth 340 tanks?
Those use our fabricated bracket with the Aeromotive Stealth 340. This tank has the Aeromotive 10-bolt pattern and a flat bottom for Aeromotive pumps that use it.
Can I use my own Aeromotive pump?
Yes. Choose No Pump and we'll ship the bolt pattern open. Your pump must use the Aeromotive 10-bolt pattern.
Can I use this tank without an in-tank pump?
No. An Aeromotive pump assembly is required, and we don't build pickup tube plates for this tank. For carbureted use, see the NON EFI tanks below.
Which fuel level sensor should I choose?
For 1967–87 C10 trucks with stock gauges, choose 0-90 ohm. With aftermarket digital gauges the ohm range matters less; follow the gauge maker's instructions. If in doubt, choose 0-90 ohm. Sensors we don't list are available from Auto Meter, Classic Instruments, VDO, Holley and others.
Do I need a mounting kit?
We only offer a mounting kit for 63–72 C10 trucks. For the 73–87 tank, supply your own hardware or fabricate your own mounting.
Why is the bed fill offset instead of centered?
The neck sits 7.75" from center toward the driver side so it lands in the center of the largest board on a wood floor. Center fill is available, but a stock wood floor has a metal strip at center, so the bed floor needs modification.
What's the difference between the bed fill and the flush floor fill?
The standard threaded cap and neck stand about 3" tall and stop just below the bed floor, so you'll need an access door to reach the cap. With the floor fill option, the tank gets a 2" hose barb and the flush fill kit mounts in the bed floor, connecting to the tank with the supplied rubber hose and clamp.
How far below the frame does the tank hang?
About 7" at the deepest point near the axle and 5" closest to the bumper.
Is shipping free?
Yes, on orders over $100 to the lower 48 states.
