A Better Tank for Your Square Body C10

An original 1973–87 C10 tank is more than 35 years old and wasn't built for fuel injection. This aluminum tank mounts to the bottom of the frame rails with no cutting of the frame or bed crossmembers.

Product #14041 comes with the Aeromotive Stealth 340 in-tank pump installed on our fabricated aluminum bracket.

How It Fits Your Square Body

Measure your truck before ordering. The tank mounts to the bottom of the frame rails on its 3" tabs. We don't offer a 73–87 mounting kit, so supply your own hardware or fabricate your own mounting.

The side fill neck connects by hose to your filler housing, so no bed floor access door is needed.

The Aeromotive 340 isn't internally regulated, so a fuel pressure regulator and a return line are required.

Installing It Right

• Plumb the 1/2" NPT tank vent with hose to a vapor canister or filter, with or without the rollover vent. Never block off a tank vent port.
• Connect the 5/8" fill neck vent barb to the barb on the back of your fill neck housing.
• Install a sensor or the block-off kit before adding fuel.
• Aluminum threads cross-thread and gall easily. Start every plug and fitting by hand and never install them dry. Thread damage from dry-fitted plugs or hardware isn't covered under warranty.

Keep the rear crossmember. On 1955-1987 Chevrolet C10 tanks, removing the rear crossmember for a Panhard bar suspension can crack the tank at the mounts, and that damage is not covered by our two-year limited structural warranty. Frequently Asked Questions

Which fuel level sensor should I choose?
For 1967–87 C10 trucks with stock gauges, choose 0-90 ohm. With aftermarket digital gauges the ohm range matters less; follow the gauge maker's instructions. If in doubt, choose 0-90 ohm. Sensors we don't list are available from Auto Meter, Classic Instruments, VDO, Holley and others.

If I don't choose a sensor, do I still get the flange?
Yes. Every C10 tank has the sending unit flange. To use the tank before you pick a sensor, install a block-off kit with gasket.

Do I need a mounting kit?
We only offer a mounting kit for 63–72 C10 trucks. For the 73–87 tank, supply your own hardware or fabricate your own mounting.

How do I plumb the side fill?
Connect the 5/8" fill neck vent barb to the barb on the back of your fill neck housing. You still need to plumb the 1/2" NPT tank vent with hose to a vapor canister or other method.

What is the rollover safety vent?
A ball check valve that lets air in and out. In a rollover the ball drops and blocks the vent so fuel can't leak out, and a small float reduces fuel slosh into the vent hose. The vent must still be plumbed to a canister or filter; never block off a tank vent port.

How far below the frame does the tank hang?
About 7" at the deepest point near the axle and 5" closest to the bumper.

Is the tank baffled?
Yes. Every tank is built as an EFI tank, with 2 main baffles and a middle baffle around the pump area.

What is a -6 ORB outlet?
Our EFI assemblies use an O-ring boss outlet because of the pressure. -6 ORB is the female equivalent of a standard -6 AN fitting, sometimes called 9/16-18 for its thread. Use whichever -6 ORB fitting suits your plumbing.

What pressure does the Aeromotive 340 run at?
It's proven at 58–60 psi for mid-range LS swaps. It isn't internally regulated, so you need a regulator and a return: either an inline regulator returning to the tank, or a regulator in the fuel rails returning to the tank.

Can I get this bracket with a different pump?
